Partners
Until I became Department Chairperson, my position was funded through a partnership between the university and three Great Lakes fishery management agencies: the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, and the Great Lakes Science Center of the USGS. The partnership is called PERM, the Partnership for Ecosystem Research and Management. Since 1993 PERM has supported several faculty positions and research programs in Fisheries and Wildife, using funds contributed by the Great Lakes Fishery Commission and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
